Pastoral Commitment:

I am devoted to the role of Lead Pastor in a Christ-focused church who: (1) shepherds the members to Christian maturity through biblical teaching, preaching, and pastoral care; (2) leads and develops the staff to equip and engage the members for ministry; (3) and leads the church to fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) with the heart of the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37-40).

Strengths:

  • Great Commission Focused: The healthiest churches in America are churches that are diverse in their Great Commission focus. After all, the message of “Jesus saves!” must go forth throughout the globe, and it is up to God’s people to take on this privilege. As lead pastor, it is my desire to lead the church in carrying out this worthiest of all goals in sustainable ways as local and state missions, national and international missions, and church planting.

  • Expositional Communication: I want to preach/teach Christ and Him crucified for total life transformation as the Holy Spirit works with the text to challenge the heart and mind of the listener. Life-change is the intention of my communication from the pulpit, and it is my desire to remain faithful to the text and God’s intentions for speaking it. I seek to bring Christ-centered teaching with powerful and appropriate life-challenging application that is audience specific.

  • Flexible Style: It has always been my goal to remain flexible in my preaching style. Flexibility will help to tailor fit the delivery of God’s Word to audiences of different ages and life experiences. Communicating the truth of God’s Word is essential to a healthy congregation, so flexibility in communication style helps to ensure that life change can happen constantly.

  • Innovative Visionary: “Where there is no vision the people fail.” A church should have a healthy vision to accomplish the Great Commission task that she has been called to do. At the same time, it is critical that the lead pastor guide the people to carry out that vision. I value a good vision. I also seek to be an “outside the box” innovator to lead the church in becoming a powerful and effective witness of the amazing grace of God to all mankind.

  • Leadership Learner: Leadership ability often is a “make it” or “break it” proposition. Healthy church fellowships thrive because of solid leadership from the lead pastor. This key fact of the pastoral ministry has driven me to become a life-long student of leadership. I place myself under the personal tutelage of mentors whom I respect and value in this area. Also, I make it a point to read a variety of leadership books, magazines, and blogs written by pastors, ministry leaders, leadership gurus, CEO’s, and those who coach them.

  • Post-modern Relevant: It is critical that a pastor and a church understand the realities of ministry in a post-modern culture. My desire is to be a lead pastor whose ministry is fluid and nimble in order to remain relevant to a swiftly changing culture. To achieve this, much of my research is focused on the effect of postmodern philosophy on the church membership and the surrounding community.

  • Next-Gen Lean: An important component of a healthy church fellowship is to have a multi-generational and multi-cultural focus combined with a next-generational slant. My goal as a lead pastor is to ensure that the church continues to reach and disciple the next generation of believers, equipping them for the challenges of life as a believer.
